How I quit smoking

I am at the one year anniversary of my quit. That astounds me. You have to realize that I was a smoker for 32 years. That’s a long time. I never really believed that i would quit smoking, but it appears that I have. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not confident about it, but it does feel good. I know that If I can go another year without taking a puff, my chances of staying quit are remarkable. So how did this happen? Well first of all, I got sick. Not really sick, just a cold/flu thing. So then I though, wow I haven’t smoked in two days, I wonder if I can keep it up. Then I ran across this website.

WhyQuit.com - a free online quit smoking forum offering motivation, education, skills development, counseling and serious group support

I started watching the videos on whyquit.com. They walked me through the first two weeks of my quit, and quelled my fears and anwered my questions. I felt like I really had support.

some main things I learned.

1. Nicorette and other nicotine replacement therapies don’t work. The drug companies don’t want you to know that though, it is a billion dollar industry. The success rate is abysmally low, and all it does it continue your painful withdrawal.

2. You can never take another puff. If you do, you will be a full time smoker again. Don’t fool yourself, “just one puff” means you are now a full time smoker.

3. I don’t know why I was able to quit this time. I guess I was just ready. The thing is, I didn’t know I was ready. Praying really helped a lot.

Good luck with your quit, I know you can do it! More importantly, you know you can do it. WATCH THE VIDEOS EVERY DAY OF YOUR NEW QUIT!!
